24 Hour Netballathon & Family Fun Day

As the door closed on Nicky's triathlon challenge, the words 'never again' were uttered. However we soon found ourselves planning a 24 hour Netballathon! The location was a tricky one and it was at the 11th hour that Le Rocquier very kindly agreed to allow us to use their facilities.
Friday 10th July 2015 7pm our 24 hour Netballathon commenced.

As that was too easy on it's own, we have also had approval from Guinness to attempt a World Record for the most players in a game. Sounds easy? The criteria is very strict and you also have to verify when every team member has come on, has touched the ball, played for at least 10 minutes and then come off. Oh and did we mention that the game cannot stop, even for a second? We hope we have broken the record and have to wait quite some time for it to be verified by Guinness.
Our very own Team Jets, Jersey's top netball team - and that's not just our opinion, they have recently gained National Premier League status - joined us to end the 2nd Guinness attempt and gave us a demonstration of just what makes them so good. We were delighted to have Lauren Devine, Team Jets skipper and Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year 2014, on board for this joint venture with the Jersey Netball Association.
It was an amazing 24 hours!
Our very grateful thanks to our sponsors, without whom this event would not be possible - Tamarind Indian Restaurant, G4S and Sports Bug.
Family Fun Day
The excitement of the recent Island Games was still in the air and the theme of this Family Fun Day was to be affordable with a nod towards a sporty and healthy lifestyle. We had a range of sports/activity demonstrations and taster sessions throughout the day plus all the family favourites like the bouncy castle, large slide, face painting, lucky dip, tombola, cake stall, toy stall and crafty table for the children to make something.
