26 JUNE - HELIER'S 6km or 10KM SEYMOUR SPRINT (CLOSED until next year!)

START TIME: 1:45 pm

This run takes place along Jersey’s South-East coast, out to the historic Seymour Tower and back to the start, racing the tide across this beautiful Ramsar site. This is a 10km trail run to Seymour Tower, or across the inter-tidal zone, so be prepared to get wet and run over sandy and rocky surfaces.

The 6km run is only to Seymour Slip and back, NOT Seymour Tower.

Unfortunately, due to the timing challenges with beating the tide, entrants must be over 18 only.

ABOUT THE 10KM RUN

The run takes place over beach and inter-tidal terrain and shoes and clothing will be exposed to sea water and part of the course may be under water. You are expected to use common sense, follow the marshalled route and avoid running over rocky outcrops and through deeper water.

This event will be physically challenging - you will be running 10km across uneven coastal/ inter-tidal terrain, through the gulleys. Due to the risk of tidal cut-off, there is a time limit for reaching the turn-around point (40mins - 5km).

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RUN THE 10KM DISTANCE WITHIN THE 90 MINUTE TIME SET.

You are expected to be in good health and not have any medical conditions which might prevent you doing that.

In the event of poor weather making the event unsafe, Philip's Footprints reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.

October CuddleCot Fundraiser - CLOSED

A 'Big Feet for Baby Feet' Event

You don’t need to enter an organised event to be part of "Team Philip”; why not take part in our annual virtual event!

To celebrate our 10th anniversary we are challenging everyone to do at least 10km in October. Walk, run, cycle, skate, skateboard, swim, hop or skip, on your own or with a team of family and friends. It couldn’t be easier and with every single step you will be supporting our charity at the same time.

This year all monies raised in October will go towards a CuddleCot, which costs around £1,800. Dealing with the death of a baby is clearly an incredibly difficult event for parents, having a CuddleCot extends the time bereaved parents can spend with their baby even allowing them the flexibility to take them home for a time.

The CuddleCot allows the family to form an important bond with their baby; whether changing a nappy, dressing the baby, taking photographs or simply just staying close and this helps families in dealing with their loss.  Currently, the Maternity Unit has a ‘cool cot’ which has done a good job but is now dated, the new CuddleCot system can be used with a moses basket and provides the optimum temperature.

UPDATE: An extremely generous donor has paid for a CuddleCot for Maternity!

And, following a phonecall from Family Nursing and Home Care, they have also been looking into CuddleCots for use in the community by the paediatric palliative care team. This means that they can support families who wish to take their babies home when there is a diagnosis of a life shortening or life limiting condition. This provides islanders with a choice of where and how their baby is cared for in his or her final days.

Having a CuddleCot will allow bereaved families to keep the baby at home just that bit longer and perhaps have family to visit, a blessing etc whatever they need to do before saying their final goodbye.

We were, of course, delighted to offer to raise funds for another CuddleCot for them. Here we go, CuddleCot number 2!

UPDATE: Another extremely generous donor has paid for a CuddleCot for Family Nursing! What an amazing community we live in!

So, what next? Our thoughts remain with bereaved parents in October, Baby Loss Awareness Month, and we are now fundraising for a SANDS bereavement care course for healthcare professionals, to enable more staff to provide sensitive care.

Thank you for your support, we could not do this without you!

There are 2 ways to take part:-

1. Purchase a registration HERE in our online shop to fundraise in aid of Philip's Footprints and send us evidence of your runs/walks (screen shots are fine) and we will post out your medal!

Or,

2. To get a medal for FREE please set up your own page at Justgiving which is connected to our Cuddle Cot Campaign and raise at least £50.

An easy way to achieve 10km is to join our 10km Walk on Saturday 13th October, 7pm, Castle Kiosk (near Le Fregate) to St Aubin and back, come along and join us! You can register on our Facebook event - or just turn up on the night - and make a donation. All walkers will receive a medal. T-shirts for our Starlight Walk are also available to order here, £10 for adults £7 for children.

We'd love you to share your #BFFBF photos on Facebook or Twitter and see where your feet (or paws!) have taken you!
